Inspiration

In 1990, on the eve before my first audition for film
& television (Steven Bochco's "Cop-Rock" on ABC),
I went for Chinese food at Bing's in San Bernardino.
Mom had seen an actor interviewed by Johnny Carson,
who mentioned he ordered Chinese before big auditions
and he believed it brought him luck... so that's what we did.
After a wonderful meal, this is what my fortune cookie said:
"The world is always ready to receive talent with open arms."

I got the job! "Cop-Rock" was my first role on television.
I kept that fortune in my wallet for 20+ years of auditions,
and I still have it... safely tucked away in a box of treasures.
Came across it again tonight and wanted to share the story.
Perhaps, some young actor will read this and be inspired,
as was I those many years ago... ~ Dell Yount
